Pitchfork: French Kicks to Release Third Album

Sometimes maligned for blending in with the NYC neo-new wave pack, the French Kicks are getting ready to make their latest attempt to stand out from the crowd of skinny ties. The band's third LP, Two Thousand, slated for a July 18 release on Star Time International, was recently recorded 3000 miles away from home in a Los Angeles studio, and produced by studio vet Doug Boehm (Guided By Voices, Saves the Day, The Vines), who also helmed the Kicks' sophomore album, 2004's Trial of the Century.

Commenting on the 10 tracks that made the Two Thousand cut, an unidentified band member had this to say on the French Kicks' website "studio log": "I just listened to it all the way through for the first time since we finished it and had a great old time. I think you will too...There are things you'll hear on this one that you won't find on any other French Kicks records, some things you won't find on any other record period, and also some familiar French Kicks family sounds. We think it's a real good listen." Well, golly gee whiz.

To showcase the new material, French Kicks kicked off a short East Coast trek last night with a one-off gig opening for Wolf Parade in New York City. They'll meet up with Ladytron later this week for a few shows, and promise to tour more later this spring.
