The M's Get Together With Jonathan Demme, Dr. Dog

Fresh off the release of their sophomore album Future Women, Chicago band the M's are off on a spring jaunt and preparing for the release of the music video for "Future Women"-- which was directed in New York by Jonathan Demme.

Yeah, that Jonathan Demme. Silence of the Lambs, Philadelphia, Oscar-winning Jonathan Demme. Apparently he's a big fan of the M's, and approached them prior to their last tour. Dude knows his stuff, too-- he directed the Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense and the recent Neil Young doc Neil Young: Heart of Gold. The video is expected to air later this month

The M's must really be getting used to the whole "being famous" thing: their song "Plan of the Man" set teenage hearts aflame on a recent episode of "The O.C." and several of their songs appear on the soundtrack to the NHL 2K6 video game. Because nothing says "hockey puck to the teeth" like glammy indie-pop.

On May 9, Polyvinyl will release a split 7" by the M's and recent Rough Trade signees Dr. Dog.
