Mountain Goats to Tour With Barbara Morgenstern

The Mountain Goats are star-struck, and perhaps even a bit googley-eyed. Writes John Darnielle on the band's official website: "The I-am-so-stoked exciting news is that Barbara Morgenstern, who is one of my favorite artists in the entire world & whose new album is a shoo-in for my year's-end top five list, has graciously agreed to open most of the shows for us. To say that I am excited by the prospect of touring with Barbara is like saying that Antarctica is kinda cold."

The German electronics goddess will accompany the Mountain Goats on a short string of West Coast dates this June. The trek will be followed by the Mountain Goats' performance at our own Pitchfork Music Festival, which they claim to be "totally stoked" about as well. Can ya blame 'em?

Darnielle added, "full-on crazy-people-style touring will recommence in the fall when the new album comes out." New Mountain Goats album! Yay!
