Mission of Burma Plan Summer Tour

Whether it's basketball, shoe-tyin', or playing tunes, practice makes perfect. In preparation for our very own Pitchfork Music Festival (aka perfection-- er, perforktion), Mission of Burma are lacing up their Reeboks and snapping their sweatpant waistbands into place for a warm-up lap across the U.S. this summer. Save two dates in England (including a performance at the Dinosaur Jr.-curated day of All Tomorrow's Parties this weekend), Mission of Burma's trek is reserved for the States and set to kick off on the first of July.

Mission of Burma will release their second post-comeback record, The Obliterati, May 23 on Matador. As previously reported, fans can preview several upcoming songs at www.obliterati.net. The site is also a wiki, so feel free to modify Mission of Burma's history or edit in a festival mention between air guitar sessions to the new tracks.

A limited number of the album's first pressing will come with a bonus DVD featuring "high-definition multi-camera" recordings of the band performing ""The Setup", "Wounded World", "That's When I Reach for My Revolver", and "That's How I Escaped My Certain Fate" live at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA in November 2004.

Those especially taken by album excitement syndrome can attend an "intimate" listening party at the Enormous Room in Cambridge, MA tomorrow night, May 16. Members of the band will be DJing and the bonus DVD will be screened. There will also be listening parties in Scottsdale, Arizona, Jacksonville, Florida, Houston, Texas, and New York City taking place over the course of the next two weeks. Date and location information is available on Mission of Burma's website.
