MC5 Bassist Hospitalized After Accident

Michael Davis, bassist for the legendary Detroit band the MC5, was injured in a motorcycle accident last Monday in Los Angeles. According to Davis' wife and manager, Angela Davis, via a press release, "Michael was riding his Harley Davidson on a Los Angeles freeway when he was unable to avoid a large muffler that dropped from a vehicle into his path. Michael was wearing his helmet and leather jacket, and is expected to recover, but he has suffered a fractured spine, bruised ribs, and several abrasions."

Davis, along with fellow MC5-ers Wayne Kramer and Dennis Thompson, were scheduled to perform as DKT at the Joey Ramone Birthday Bash this coming Friday, May 19, at New York City's Irving Plaza, as well as at the Brooklyn club Northsix the night before. The Northsix show has been postponed, while Kramer will play the Joey Ramone celebration accompanied by other musicians already scheduled to perform. The Strokes, Mindless Self Indulgence, the Philistines featuring Glen Matlock of the Sex Pistols, and the Alarm are all also on the bill.

DKT's performance at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida on May 28 has been canceled. Sorry, hard rockers.
