Madlib Is Mad Busy

Take Madlib, for instance. He released Beat Konducta Vol. 1-2: Movie Scenes in March and the Dudley Perkins "Expressions" Instrumentals as an exclusive digital download HERE in April. He's rumored to be working on a new Madvillain album with MF Doom, but all the Stones Throw website says about it is that a Madvillain track will be on the label's upcoming compilation in collaboration with Adult Swim.

The sling-shooting record label is not completely tightlipped about all of Madlib's activity, though, just selectively so. They have, in a press release, told us about two recent Madlib releases, the first of which is a podcast.

"Madlib's 45 Mix" is the fourth episode of the Stones Throw Podcast series, and "the title says it all - Madlib, two turntables, and a pile of 45s." The 65-minute mix has no available tracklist, but it can be downloaded free from both iTunes and the Stones Throw website.

The second release is part of an exclusive collaboration with eMusic in which Stones Throw will reissue a series of formerly vinyl-only EPs by Yesterdays New Quintet, Madlib's jazz band. This first EP, Elle's Theme, was the Quintet's 2001 debut. It comes packaged with three bonus tracks and is already available for download at eMusic.

One thing Stones Throw has no problem going on about is clothing, specifically, the "J Dilla Changed My Life" t-shirt that was made and worn by DJ Deckstarr at his show with Dilla in Dusseldorf in December (new tongue twister!).
