Exclusive: Page France Sign to Suicide Squeeze

Sufjan Stevens may be reluctant to release The Avalanche, his upcoming collection of outtakes, into the world (something he revealed in our recent interview with him), but thanks to Suicide Squeeze Records, the world won't want for spiritual indie-folk-pop. The Seattle label, which has put out records by Modest Mouse, the Unicorns, and Pedro the Lion, among many others, just signed Baltimore band Page France to their roster, with plans to re-release the band's latest LP.

Hello, Dear Wind, Page France's second album, was originally released on Fall Records last, um, fall. The Suicide Squeeze version of the record will see record store shelves on September 12, after which the band will head back into the studio to record their newest full-length, tentatively scheduled for 2007 release.

Bandleader Michael Nau and co. still have one more release left for Fall Records before they make the full transition to the Squeeze. Pear/Sister Pinecone is a double EP set with an unspecified fall release date that is currently available for pre-order on the Fall Records website.

On their own website, the band describes Pear as "our wettest kiss to the pop/soul movement of the late 60s/early 70s...for those of you with the loose hips," while Sister Pinecone "is a collection of 6 songs that were backlogged for months, years, lifetimes, from sporadic recording sessions...for fans of those ratty moments that come to 'fruition' via the wet and suspiciously stinky basement." Tracklists for both:

Pear (Disc 1):

01 Million Man Money Hand
02 All Things, All Right
03 Talking Out-Louds
04 Ladder Man
05 The Saddest Ones
06 Young One
07 Everybody Knows
08 Say Wolf in the Summertime

Sister Pinecone (Disc 2):

01 Mother
02 No One Likes a Bleeder
03 Weatherman, Section One
04 Weatherman, Section Three
05 Passengers Laughing
06 My Antarctica

One thing Page France can do in a season other than fall is tour, and soon they will be hitting the road on a short East Coast trek with Canada. Yes, with Canada.
