Tracy + the Plastics Quit, Team Dresch Reunite

Think being in a band is hard work? Try keeping it together when you're in a beloved lesbian-feminist electro trio dedicated to destroying the hierarchy of the rock group...and all three members are characters performed by you. That's what performance artist Wynne Greenwood has been doing for the past six years, recording, touring, and making films as Tracy + the Plastics (singer Tracy, keyboardist Nikki, and drummer Cola). But now, Greenwood is breaking up with the Plastics.

"It was really sad to think about leaving those characters," Greenwood admits. "They've really given me so much inspiration and hope and support...I love Tracy + the Plastics, but it's just time to grow."

Greenwood will perform a final show as Tracy et al. on September 9 at Miami's Moore Space to kick off ROOM, an art installation project co-created with sculptor Fawn Krieger. It's on display at Moore Space through October 7. Explains Greenwood, "ROOM is a series of collaborations that will probably keep happening. It's a different thing each time, so whether it's Tracy + the Plastics or eventually just Wynne Greenwood participating, it'll be changing."

Another reason not to sniffle all over yr Forever Sucks EP: Greenwood's new project, Libber (which "brings percussion-based songs and video to the stage in marching band style") will support the re-reunited Team Dresch on two precious Pacific Northwest dates. (Plus, who knows, Nikki could always decide to go solo.)

Team Dresch, the legendary band responsible for the queercore classics Personal Best and Captain My Captain, is back to its original lineup of Donna Dresch (guitar, bass), Jody Bleyle (guitar, bass, vocals), Kaia Wilson (guitar, vocals), and Marci Martinez (drums). They're embarking on a brief tour, starting tonight in Olympia, Washington.
