Video: Belle & Sebastian: "White Collar Boy"
Belle & Sebastian have announced a release date for single #3 from their latest album (and Best New Music entry), The Life Pursuit. On Monday, June 26, "White Collar Boy" will be released via Rough Trade in three formats: CD, seven inch, and DVD. The CD version teams the track with two B-sides ("Heaven in the Afternoon" and "Long Black Scarf") while the 7-inch comes backed with a cover of the charming Scots performing Rod Stewart's "Baby Jane" live at Sirius.
But the real kicker is the "White Collar Boy" music video, which has been paired with "Sukie in the Graveyard" (filmed live for the BBC's "The Music Show") on the single's DVD release. Stripping "White Collar Boy" clean of its celebratory summery sound is footage of gratuitous alcohol intake, prostitutes, urination, and yes-- even the finger. Gosh darnit, this is the last time we let our innocent white collar boy out with that graveyard-swingin' Sukie:
As previously reported, B&S' Mick Cooke has curated an as-of-yet untitled benefit compilation. The record, slated for a September 11 UK release on Rough Trade, will benefit non-profit organization Save the Children. The collection features children's tunes from Franz Ferdinand, Four Tet, Snow Patrol, the Flaming Lips, the Fiery Furnaces, and more.
Belle & Sebastian will, of course, make the festival rounds over the next few months. Note June 30's Chris Geddes-only gig with DJ Craig and Mr. Divine, the band's stint with the Shins, and all those other dates:
