Furnaces, González, Molina, Psapp Rock NPR
This evening, NPR will broadcast the Fiery Furnaces' performance at Washington, DC's 9:30 Club. And as José González, Juana Molina, and Psapp wrap up their U.S. tour, NPR will stream a live webcast of their concert at World Live Café in Philadelphia tomorrow night, July 1.
Listeners will be able to experience much of the Fiery Furnaces discography live, including its latest effort, Bitter Tea. Oh, which reminds us-- Bitter Tea is slated for a vinyl release via Fat Possum sometime in the near future. To tide fans over, a limited edition 12" of "Single Again" backed with "Here Comes the Summer" were hawked at merch tables on the band's June tour. Maybe fans will get lucky and be able to to pick up the rarity here:
07-01 Washington, DC - 9:30 Club
07-06 Auckland, New Zealand - Schooner Tavern
07-07 Melbourne, Australia - East Brunswick Club
07-08 Sydney, Australia - Gaelic Theatre
07-09 Brisbane, Australia - Zoo
07-14 Ottawa, Ontario - Ottawa Blues Festival
07-15 Toronto, Ontario - Historic Fort York
07-17 Montreal, Quebec - Jacques Cartier Pier
And public radio isn't the only major U.S. media outlet to dig González, Molina, and Psapp. Busy Swedish singer/songwriter González has contributed songs to The OC (although who hasn't?) and a Sony Bravia commercial, while British electro-pop duo Psapp can't escape mention of the fact that their song "Cosy in the Rocket" is the theme for Grey's Anatomy. What's next? Argentinian songstress Juana Molina on Gilmore Girls?
Psapp open the NPR-streamed concert, followed by Molina, with González headlining. After that, the transnational trio heads to the Bowery Ballroom for the last show of their tour, before heading out to various festivals. If you ‘Juana' (sorry) see them in virtually any combination, check out the math below:
