Pitchfork: Andrew Bird Sets Fall Tour

It's a bird! It's a plane! Wait, yeah, it's a Bird. And what better place for a Bird to be seen than the Minnesota Zoo?

On August 4, Andrew Bird and his ever-present accompanist Martin Dosh will launch yet another U.S. trek with a performance at the Weesner Amphitheatre's Music in the Zoo series. Afterward, the pair will finish off their festival rounds and break for a month before tackling their next full round of dates.

Chicago-area fans can also catch Bird live on PBS/WTTW's television show "Chicago Tonight" on July 19.

As previously reported, Bird is in the midst of cranking out his follow-up to last year's The Mysterious Production of Eggs at his barn in rural Illinois, Electrical Audio in Chicago, and various studios in Minneapolis. The disc, slated for an early 2007 release, will see guest contributions from Dosh, Haley Bonar, and Chris Morrissey. Producer Ben Durrant has been working alongside Bird as well.

Track titles include "Dark Matter", "Plasticities", and "Sycophants" (all of which Bird's been practicing on the road), and the tentatively-titled "The Armchair Apocalypse".
