Video: Beck: "Think I'm in Love"

When Beck's "Cell Phone's Dead" popped up online last week (and quickly disappeared), it shattered our expectations of what a Nigel Godrich-Beck collaboration is supposed to sound like. However, Beck recently posted the video for another new song, "Think I'm in Love", on his website, and boy oh boy, Godrich is back.

"Think I'm in Love"'s music video evokes two thoughts: 1) "Late 80s," and 2) "DeviantArt.com user playing around with Photoshop manipulations for the first time." Despite its aesthetic shortcomings, the film fits the track well-- both are slow, lighthearted, and um, just about average. (Though we're sure it'll be a commercial success-- hey, Chris Martin!) The chorus' lyrics, "I think I'm in love but it makes me kind of nervous to say so," have a semi-joking self-consciousness to them, and the video mirrors this. Although Beck's often very close to the camera, he tends to avert his eyes and always has backup (dubbed over backup, anyway), which is how the number feels.

Whoops! Looks like those party poopers at the RIAA made YouTube take the video down. Oh well. We can console ourselves with a video of Beck performing a new song, "Nausea", live, on his MySpace page.
