Ian Svenonius and Calvin Johnson Embark on Tour
Following the success of their previous tag-team DJ tours, Selector Dub Narcotic, aka Calvin Johnson (Dub Narcotic, The Halo Benders, Beat Happening), and Name Names, aka Ian Svenonius (Weird War, The Make-Up, Nation of Ulysses), are joining forces, packing up their record collections, and playing another series of sets.
The tour, which commences in Chicago tonight and winds up in Tennessee, promises to provide an eclectic club experience. A press release explains the Johnson-Svenonius musical chemistry thusly: "Record collections numbering in the tens of thousands will combine, collide, and meld together to form quite possibly the most dancing, most rocking, and most soul-filled DJ sets of all time." They must be touring in an eighteen-wheeler to carry all those records!
Ian will also give multi-media presentations in support of his new book, The Psychic Soviet-- a portable, hot pink-colored tome containing 19 essays and prose pieces on contemporary issues (e.g. vampirism, coffee consumption, and Seinfeld).
