Bloc Party, Maximo Producer Paul Epworth... RAPS!

He's the man largely responsible for much of this decade's dancerock sound, as the producer behind albums by Bloc Party and Maximo Park, and as a notable remixer of Death From Above 1979, Franz Ferdinand, and Annie (among countless others) under the alias Phones. But is that enough? Not for Paul Epworth, certainly not! Now stepping out from behind the decks and into a limelight all his own, he now fancies himself, yes, a rapper.

Recreating himself as street tuff Epic Man, Epworth's already inter-leaked one self-produced track, "More Is Enough", featuring grime emcee Plan B-- and we're quite certain that's just the beginning. After all, one of NME's favorite new crazes of 2006 is the subgenre they've classily coined "grindie," a banner under which indie rockers and grime artists unite to collaborate on some of the unfunkiest rap tracks you may ever deign (not) to hear. For the curious-- and you know you sort of are-- "More Is Enough" is streaming now on his MySpace. Yo, that's fresh?
