Good golly, those Bookeaters keep getting their revenge every time (and raising serious charity bucks for the kids), and here's the key: power-duos playing covers. First it was Sufjan Stevens and David Byrne tackling Lefty Frizzell in New York, then Ben Gibbard and the Long Winters' John Roderick doing Neil Diamond in Chicago, and for Friday's Seattle event, Gibbard joined Colin Meloy of the Decemberists for a rendition of Blur's "End of the Century". Colin strummed the acoustic, Gibbard tickled the ivories, and together these two Pacific Northwesterners raised a crap-ton of cash for the Seattle branch of the 826 writing center. The good karma was palpable; scope the video below. And, um, pardon me Ben, but-- is that a mullet??
