Brian Eno isn't just an aural sculptor, he's a visual artist as well. And on September 26 (September 25 in the UK), he'll share the fruits of his visual art labors in the form of the 77 Million Paintings DVD. The release will bring Eno's traveling art installation of the same name to computer screens everywhere as a DVD-ROM containing special software that overlaps and combines images to create somewhere near the titular number of digitized paintings. Plus the whole snazzy thing is set to original, Eno-composed music.

The package will include more than just a glorified Eno screensaver, though. There will also be a regular DVD that features Eno discussing the project and-- according to Billboard.com-- "a 52-page hardbound book featuring Eno's essay about his parallel career in visual art." All Saints Records will release the set, and there are tentative plans to bring the physical installations to the U.S. in the future.

Lucky for you, Eno will crash North American living rooms not once, but two times this year. In addition to 77 Million Paintings, digital videodisc viewers can catch Eno onscreen with the MVD Entertainment Group/Secret Records DVD release of Stop the War Coalition Benefit Concert.

On November 27 of last year, Eno, Imogen Heap, the Rachid Taha Band, Nitin Sawhney, and special guest Mick Jones performed at the benefit concert for UK anti-war group Stop the War Coalition. The DVD captures this charity event in full, and will hit retailers on Halloween.

Finally, Eno will play with the Rachid Taha band this weekend at the previously reported Bestival, which goes down at the Isle of Wight's Robin Hill Country Park in England, September 8-10.
