Using an iPod as his "backing band", Spoon's Britt Daniel recently dropped by the AOL-sponsored Interface studio to perform some tunes and answer some bland-ass questions about Death Cab, major labels, why Mel Gibson would make a better tour manager, and (seriously) the weather. He played three songs in all, "Metal Detektor", "Chips and Dip", and "They Never Got You". Read up here, then download the whole thing here.

Quite a few high-profile peeps have done the Interface thing before, including Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Lady Sovereign, Peaches, Mew, José González, the Raconteurs, Silversun Pickups, and the newly revived Lemonheads.

As previously reported, Daniel's hard at work on his first solo record, while according to their official website, Spoon are also working hard on their new disc, said to be "largely about mid-century modernity, busting off, and world politics." These just happen to be our three most favoritest things ever, so, like, color us stoked.

Spoon have a few shows lined up, including a pair of home-state gigs this weekend.
