New Deerhoof Album to Feature 12 Covers

New Deerhoof Album to Feature 12 Covers

Do you want this story in Wingdings? How about in red font, with no vowels, and/or bolded text only? Sorry kids, unlike Deerhoof, we're just not capable of that kind of customization.

The band's forthcoming Kill Rock Stars record, Friend Opportunity, is set for release on January 23, 2007, and 12 David Shrigley-designed covers are coming along for the ride.

The Glasgow artist created 12 paintings for the album, and each one will be included separately in the album's package, giving listeners the option to send their favorite piece to the front.

Just like Sonic Youth's Experimental Jet Set, Trash, and No Star, remember?

The version pictured above will be displayed on record store shelves, but fans are in for a mix 'n' match treat upon purchasing the disc and bringing it home.

In addition to the default cover, Shrigley has revealed two other paintings to Spin.com, and we have to say, they're right up Deerhoof's alley. Meaning pretty effing neat-- especially the one that looks like some sort of beastiality is going on.

As previously reported, Deerhoof plan to launch a massive 2007 tour upon Friend Opportunity's arrival. Since we last checked in with the gang, they've tacked on a few supporting acts to their trek, including Hella, Busdriver, and more. Following the trip, the trio will make its way to Europe and Australia, though specific dates have not yet been confirmed.

And really, what better way to prepare for a slew of shows than picking up the three Deerhoof holiday packs currently available through Kill Rock Stars' website? Scope them out here, here, and here, and agree with us when we say that those mini-crates are adorable.

Finally, keep in mind that Deerhoof are up for a PLUG Award for Best Live Act of the Year. Now go vote!
