Think About Life's Van Pelt Builds Miracle Fortress
Look, he's thinkin' about life right now
Solitude's a good look for Graham Van Pelt of Montreal-based art-rock collective Think About Life. He spent some time holed up in his Friendship Cove performance space and emerged with Five Roses, a full-length album marrying the in-sounds of Canuck indie and the skyward symphoneering of Brian Wilson. He'll release it under the Miracle Fortress nom de plume May 22 on the Secret City label.
Miracle Fortress play the Capital Idea! fest at Ottawa's Babylon Nightclub on June 21, alongside Sunset Rubdown. Indeed, fans of selfsame Canuck indie would do well to check them out: the MF roadshow includes Sunset's Jordan Robson-Cramer (also of Magic Weapon, perhaps the only thing that can penetrate a Miracle Fortress?), Telefauna's Adam Waito, and SS Cardiacs' Jessie Stein.
Five Roses:
01 Whirrs
02 Have You Seen in Your Dreams
03 Next Train
04 Maybe Lately
05 Beach Baby
06 Hold Your Secrets to Your Heart
07 Little Trees
08 Poetaster
09 Five Roses
10 Blasphemy
11 Fortune
12 This Thing About You
