M.I.A. Cancels Sasquatch Appearance Due to Visa

Visas-- ain't they a pain? Having squelched dates by bands like Pretty Girls Make Graves and Prinzhorn Dance School recently, they've gotten to electro songstress M.I.A., too, who's been forced to shuck her set at this weekend's Sasquatch Festival in Washington State.

According to a statement posted on the Sasquatch site, "unexpected delays in the processing and issuance of M.I.A.'s artist visa have forced her to cancel her appearance at this year's Sasquatch Festival. We apologize to our fans and to the promoters of the festival and look forward to returning to the U.S. as soon as possible."

Thanks to reader Sean Farrell for the tip.

If you remember, this isn't the first time this has happened to M.I.A.

Attendees will have to content themselves with Arcade Fire, Björk, Interpol, Spoon, the Hold Steady, and a few dozen others. Still, though, no "Bucky Done Gun"? Bummer.

As a consolation of sorts, Ms. Arulpragasam's sophomore set Kala drops August 21 on Interscope. One hopes M.I.A.'s folks get on the ball before her late summer string of North American festival dates.

M.I.A.:

05-26 George, WA - Sasquatch!
08-03 Chicago, IL - Lollapalooza
08-05 Baltimore, MD - Virgin Festival
09-08-09 Toronto, Ontario - Virgin Festival
09-14-16 Austin, TX - Zilker Park (Austin City Limits Festival)
