Los Campesinos! Sign to Arts&Crafts;, Tour N. America
I declare Los Campesinos! my favorite new band. The Cardiff, Wales gang of seven scratches the itch for fun, bouncy, riot grrrl-infused indie pop that's been gnawing away at me ever since Bis disappeared. If you've been reading Forkcast, you're probably familiar with LC! by now-- we've been showing them a lot of love over there. They're signed to Wichita in the UK, and just put out their second single, "You! Me! Dancing!", yesterday.
Los Campesinos! are headed to our shores later this summer, with debut EP Sticking Fingers Into Sockets due out July 3 on Arts & Crafts on CD, 10" vinyl, and digital download. Produced by Dave Newfeld of Broken Social Scene, the EP includes UK singles "You! Me! Dancing!" and "We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives" (not to be confused with You Say Party! We Say Die!), their cover of Pavement's "Frontwards", and three other nuggets of near-perfection. The videos for "Dancing" and "Knives" are also included.
A brief North American tour surrounding their appearance at Lollapalooza has been scheduled, but first they hit the European festival circuit later in June.
Sticking Fingers Into Sockets tracklist:
01 We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives
02 It Started With a Mixx
03 Don't Tell Me to Do the Math(s)
04 Frontwards
05 You! Me! Dancing!
06 Clunk-Rewind-Clunk-Play-Clunk
