Jona Bechtolt Quits the Blow, Does YACHT Full Time

Jona Bechtolt Quits the Blow, Does YACHT Full Time One is the loneliest number, and it's once again the number of people in the Blow following the departure of Jona Bechtolt. Two can be as bad as one (being the loneliest number since the number one); two was, for a spell, the number of people in the Blow, which consisted of Bechtolt and Khaela Maricich for last year's rad Paper Television and 2004's also rad Poor Aim: Love Songs (reissued this year with bonus remixes).

No is the saddest experience you'll ever know, but Bechtolt was forced to say "no" to the Blow due to his commitment to YACHT. Listening to YACHT jams, such as those found on recent Marriage Records release I Believe in You. Your Magic Is Real, we don't think Jona's very sad at all.

Is the Blow just no good anymore since Jona went away? We doubt it. Khaela's been going solo all year actually, with Jona away touring with YACHT.

YACHT continues to tour "forever," in his words. In our words, that's "until early July, plus one September festival." He's playing dates with LCD Soundsystem, Architecture in Helsinki, Au Revoir Simone, and Montag, and documenting his touring exploits in a series called "YACHT on Tour Forever", which you may indulge in here. Download the series' "theme song"-- a new YACHT composition titled "The Summer Song" and featuring fellow PDX'er Claire L. Evans-- below.

The Blow, as a Maricich solo affair, plays Pittsburgh's Andy Warhol Museum on June 8.
