The Fiery Furnaces Sign to Thrill Jockey
Nothing like a little label news to excite you on a Friday morning-- although this tidbit's a little more thrilling than most. (Groan.) According to a Chicago Reader report and confirmed by a publicist, Eleanor, Matthew, the kitchen sink, and everything involved with the Fiery Furnaces have signed to Chicago's Thrill Jockey records, home to Tortoise, Califone, the Sea and Cake, Trans Am, and oh so many other favorites.
The rackety blues-hued poppers will issue
their first offering for their new digs, Widow City, on October 23. It's the
follow-up to last year's Bitter Tea.
In other Furnaces news, the band will commence a few weeks of tour June 21 in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
They got that fire:
06-21 Cleveland Heights, OH - Grog Shop
06-22 Chicago, IL - Empty Bottle
06-23 Ann Arbor, MI - Blind Pig
06-25 Toronto, Ontario - The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern
