Antony and the Johnsons to Tour Europe
Much is made of the vastness of Antony's vibrato. But what of his backing band, the Johnsons? Don't they deserve at least some of the credit for his Mercury Music Prize-nabbing melodrama? Were you aware, for example, that the current Johnson guitar/fiddle player goes by the name of Rob Moose? No, you say? A tidbit like that could make you a hit at any party or social gathering.
Perhaps you'll spend a bit more time gazing at Rob Moose and a little less taking in the swell of Antony's voice when Antony and the Johnsons make their way to Europe for a run of dates through mid-July. Actually, that's awfully unlikely. To take nothing away from Mr. Moose, there's just no getting past those pipes.
No news of a new Antony album at the moment, but you can hear him on new albums by Björk, Linda Thompson, and Michael Cashmore.
