The Go! Team Sign to Sub Pop, Name Album
In a match made in indie rock heaven, British pep squad the Go! Team have signed to Sub Pop, who will release their forthcoming sophomore album in America. That album, now titled Proof of Youth, comes out here September 11, and a day before in the UK courtesy of Memphis Industries. (The band's debut album Thunder, Lightning, Strike, was released in the U.S. on Columbia.)
As previously reported, the album will be heralded by two advance singles on Memphis Industries: "Grip Like a Vice", out July 2, and "Doing It Right", out September 3. "Grip Like a Vice" will be available on CD, download, and two different 7"s. B-sides include "A Version of Myself", a cover of Sonic Youth's "Bull in the Heather", and a remix of "Grip Like a Vice" by Black Affair, aka Steve Mason of the Beta Band and King Biscuit Time.
In addition to such previously mentioned guests as Solex, the Rappers Delight Club, and Bonde do Role's Marina Ribatski, the album also features a cameo from Public Enemy's Chuck D on the song "Flashlight Fight".
The Go! Team will spend the summer on the road, traveling all over the world on the festival circuit. According to their website, they've been added to the Lollapalooza lineup, but they aren't listed on the Lollapalooza website quite yet.
UPDATE: THEIR WEBSITE WAS WRONG, THEY'RE NOT PLAYING LOLLAPALOOZA.
