Jens Lekman "Bingo" Single Due in July

Jens Lekman "Bingo" Single Due in July Hey, remember when Jens Lekman quit music and started working in a bingo hall? That unlikely detour lasted all of two days before Jens came crawling back to music, but apparently it provided enough anecdotal fodder for a tune.

Hence we have "Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo", a new Jens Lekman single we'll wager was inspired at least in part by said experience. Well, either that or "what it would be like to leave city life and start a new country side community with your friends, playing bingo and watching the rabbits copulate," as Swedish imprint Service puts it.

Service, also home to Jens' notoriously limited early singles, EPs, and albums, will deliver "Friday Night" across Sweden this July (pre-orders are promised to ship by July 13, a Friday!). The 7" comes backed with "Radio NRJ", and it's strictly limited once again. You snooze, you eBay!

Many thanks to SixtyWatt's Jim Goodwin for the tip.

Secretly Canadian also tells us that "Friday Night at the Drive-In Bingo" will appear on Jens' forthcoming sophomore LP (and "Radio NRJ" will not), due in the U.S. this fall. Service will serve up said album in Scandinavia on September 5.

Finally, Jens struts his stuff at a handful of summer and fall festivals.

Sweet summer's/autumn's nights:

06-29 Barcelona, Spain - Faraday Festival
06-30 Stockholm, Sweden - Accelerator Festival
07-20 Tonsberg, Norway - Slottsfjellsfestivalen
08-18 Arhus, Denmark - Pop Revo 07
09-14 Bergen, Norway - Phonofestivalen
09-15 Olso, Norway - John Dee
09-16 Salisbury, England - End of the Road Festival
