Graham Coxon and Paul Weller Collaborate on Single
Warning: the Britishness of this news item is off the charts
Even for the Regal Singles Club-- a monthly series that's roped in nobility like Loney, Dear, Hello Saferide, and the Bird and the Bee for its recent offerings-- getting two of the biggest names in British music is quite a coup.
Names just don't get much bigger than Graham Coxon-- Blur guitarist turned fine solo artist-- and Jam frontman Paul Weller, who will collaborate on a new tune entitled "This Old Town" for a Regal single. While you balk at the fact that Weller's never written a song called "This Old Town" before (seems like he would've, right?), digest this: "This Old Town" also features the skin-hittin' skills of Oasis drummer and noted offspring Zak Starkey. Gosh, is there a coupon for fish and chips in there somewhere, too?
The digital download will be available July 2, though the 7" won't drop until the July 30. The physical single is limited to 5,000 copies, and will feature a new song apiece from both gents: Coxon's "Each New Morning" and Weller's "Black River".
