The Verve Reunite

The Verve Reunite Britpop legends the Verve, best known to non-Brits as the writers of the soundtrack to bad sidewalk etiquette known as "Bittersweet Symphony", will reunite for a tour in the fall, and they also plan to record a new album together, according a post on frontman Richard Ashcroft's website as well as the band's and new website and MySpace.

The band broke up in 1999 at the peak of their popularity, riding high on the success of their 1997 album Urban Hymns, which featured "Bittersweet Symphony", "The Drugs Don't Work", and "Lucky Man". Now, Ashcroft, guitarist Nick McCabe, bassist Simon Jones, and drummer Peter Salisbury have reconvened. Guitarist/keyboardist Simon Tong is not involved, seemingly because he's busy with his current band, the Good, the Bad, and the Queen.

The post says that the band is currently recording together, and will complete a new album "after a summer break." Six UK shows are scheduled for November.
