Grizzly Bear, Feist, Carl Newman, Jim James Eat Books

Mmmm... paper!
Grizzly Bear, Feist, Carl Newman, Jim James Eat Books Revenge of the Book Eaters makes its goals very clear: It seeks to raise money for the Brooklyn-based children's writing center 826NYC, sure, but it also aims to determine once and for all whether music or literature is superior.

We're biased, of course, but you'd be surprised just how weighted towards our side the lineup for this year's benefit is: Feist, Grizzly Bear, New Pornographer Carl Newman and My Morning Jacket's Jim James will all perform (though Feist, it appears, will be reading from a book) at the event, hosted by funnyman Demetri Martin and also sporting funnywoman-slash-author Sarah Vowell. The event goes down August 26 (hey, 8/26!) at New York City's Beacon Theatre, and proceeds will go towards 826NYC's free programming for children.

The event is a sequel to last year's Revenge of the Book Eaters, which featured Jon Stewart, John Hodgman, Vowell again, the dude from the Long Winters, and an onstage collaboration between Sufjan Stevens and David Byrne, much to the delight of anyone who's ever liked anything good.
