Modest Mouse, Shins, Leo, Fugazi Appear in Photo Book
Plus: Bikini Kill, June of 44, Unrest, Lungfish, Slant 6
After an almost 20-year-long career in photography, Pat Graham has released his very first book, Silent Pictures. The collection features 144 softbound pages of Graham's photographs of artists like Modest Mouse, Ted Leo, Fugazi, the Shins, Bikini Kill, Lungfish, Unrest, June of 44, Slant 6, and many others.
The book also features a forward by Fugazi/Minor Threat/Dischord spark plug Ian MacKaye and an afterward by fellow music photographer Cynthia Connolly. Silent Pictures is available now from Akashic Books.
Though he currently lives in London and runs his own 96 Gillespie gallery alongside his wife Melanie Standage, Graham still keeps in touch with his good friends in Modest Mouse. In fact, he's in the midst of running a photo blog documenting the band's tour on their website, and we've included a few choice samples of that work (yes, that's the Conan set) below.
Finally, Graham will go on a little tour of his own this fall as he appears at four choice U.S. bookstores for what the Akashic website vaguely calls "events," which we expect means signings, maybe a talk, and hopefully a little finger food.
