Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello Join Forces for Tour
Few names really deserve mention in the same breath as Bob Dylan, but Elvis Costello is assuredly one of 'em. Fittingly, then, the two veteran wordsmiths (and, it moves me to mention, actual geniuses) will link up for a baker's dozen tour dates in the early fall all up and down the right half of the country. These shows mark Elvis Costello's first solo outings in twelve years (following tours with his band of Imposters and his many on-record collaborators), and will feature folk-soul guy Amos Lee as support.
There's been plenty afoot in camp Dylan since the release of last year's fine Modern Times; they're committing his life to film (and committing some great bands to covering him on wax), he's on that new "Johnny Cash Show" DVD, and he's been remixed by sometimes great, often clowny, always poppy (guess that makes him the UK's answer to will.i.am?) producer Mark Ronson.
Ronson's take on "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)"- pops up on Dylan, a 3CD of Zimmerman classics, out October 1 on SonyBMG. It's the first time Dylan's let himself be remixed, so congrats, Ronson.
Costello, who's been embroiled in a repackage campaign of his own, pops up on a new comp; his unlikely cover of Christina Aguilera's "Beautiful" pops up on the soundtrack to popular cranky medical dramedy "House", out September 18 on Nettwerk.
