Sigur Ros Sign to XL in U.S. for CD & DVD Releases

Sigur Rós have signed to XL for the U.S. releases of their separate-but-related CD and DVD double whammy. As previously reported, the CD, a double disc affair, is called Hvarf / Heim and mostly consists of reinterpretations of old songs but manages to fit three previously unreleased ones on there as well. The DVD, Heima, documents a series of free concerts in the band's native Iceland in the summer of 2006.

Both will be released on November 6 in the U.S., and the day before in the UK on EMI.

On September 14, there will be an exclusive screening of Heima in Akureyri, Iceland. September 27 will be the film's official premiere on the opening night of the Icelandic International Film Festival in Reykjavik. The American premiere will take place at the New Yorker festival on October 6.

Sigur Rós' only scheduled live dates at the moment are an acoustic set at the New Yorker festival and October 27 at the Melbourne International Arts Festival in Melbourne, Australia, where they will perform their score for Merce Cunningham's "Split Sides".

And don't forget: Jónsi Birgisson's Riceboy Sleeps exhibit is on display in Hot Springs, Arkansas through September 7.
