Lucksmiths Spring a Leak on Comp, Tour
Few things can bring a smile to one's face like a Lucksmiths song, but a Lucksmiths tour certainly is one of them. And a Lucksmiths double-disc compilation, too? Our grins done turned themselves inside out.
First up, Spring a Leak, the aforementioned 2CD set, which collects enough rarities, B-sides, radio sessions, remixes, and non-album potpourri to keep those frowns upside down through next spring (or next fall where they're from).
A joint venture between Santa Barbara indie pop mecca Matinée Recordings and the Lucksmiths' own Australian label Lost and Lonesome Recording Company, Spring also boasts a number of choice covers performed by the Lucksmiths, including tunes originally by the Magnetic Fields, the Modern Lovers, Bee Gees, the Ladybug Transistor, Boyracer, the Siddeleys, the Cat's Miaow, and, yes, the Smiths.
The whole shebang comes out September 10 (a Monday, but hey).
The Lucksmiths will also contribute an exclusive track called "Good Light" to a forthcoming compilation celebrating Matinée Recordings' tenth anniversary.
The festivities continue with a Lucksmiths U.S. tour this fall, kicking off September 21 in Los Angeles. Along the way, the Australian mirth-makers will cross paths with a number of indie-pop luminaries, including the Ladybug Transistor, the Brunettes, and labelmates Math and Physics Club.
