Kanye, Beanie, Juelz Pay Tribute to Jay-Z's Doubt
Jay-Z's Reasonable Doubt is about eleven years old now, and roughly an hour in length. Which means, had you put it on a loop the day of its release, you'd be coming up pretty close to your 100,000th listen. Unknockable as Doubt's hustle is, even the most stalwart sort is likely seeking a bit of a break from the thing.
Good thing there's Damon "Dame" Dash, who-- according to MTV.com-- is releasing Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, a tribute to his former Roc-a-friend's seminal debut, through BlockSavvy.com, Dash's social networking site. As Dash told MTV.com, Beyond a Reasonable Doubt features Kanye West, Juelz Santana, Jim Jones, Beanie Sigel, Rell, and others tackling the formidable tracks. You'll have to sign up to BlockSavvy to hear the thing, but it's out now. While there, you can check out a couple videos of Kanye and Mos Def throwing down at Dame Dash's place in London.
While Dame was with MTV, he dropped a few tidbits about Doubt of which you may not be aware. "Nas and AZ was supposed to be on 'Bring It On,' they kept not showing up," Dash said, which would've thrown a whole new wrench into the now-squelched Nas/Jay-Z beef. "That's when we wanted to put out the Firm. They didn't show up. We was meeting and they was saying 'yeah,' but they wasn't showing up. We would be waiting and we would be getting offended. So we brought Sauce [Money] and [Big] Jaz on the song." Ah, Sauce Money, how close you came to obscurity.
Jay, as you know, has a new one on the way, for which your fingers are probably already crossed.
Beyond a Reasonable Doubt:
01 Juelz Santana: "You Must Love Me"
02 Rell: "All I Need"
03 Nicole Wray: "Regrets"
04 Kanye West: "A Million and One Questions"
05 Denim: "Renegade"
06 Young Gunz: "Face Off"
07 Oschino and Sparks: "Streets Is Talking"
08 Freeway: "Politics as Usual"
09 Memphis Bleek: "Can I Live"
10 Jay-Z [ft. Oschino and Sparks]: "For the..."
