New Order Revisit History on Live DVD Set
Not to be outdone by Joy Division's Best Of collection, DVD, and Zune, New Order has revealed the details of its own DVD. The Manchester dance/rock pioneers will release Live in Glasgow via Warner/Rhino on June 24 in the U.S. (It will be out June 2 in the UK.)
The first disc of the Live in Glasgow two-disc set features performances from a pair of shows the band played at Glasgow's Carling Academy in October 2006. The tunes from these sets span the band's discography, even including a few Joy Division ditties. Interspersed throughout are exclusive interviews with the band members.
The second disc is comprised of previously unreleased archival live footage selected by drummer Stephen Morris. It includes selections from eight shows, mostly from the 1980s, though there are two tracks from a 2006 concert in London.
New Order have no live shows scheduled for 2008 yet (possibly because the members hate each others' guts), but bassist Peter Hook does have some DJ dates, listed below. Also, vocalist/guitarist/keyboardist Bernard Sumner contributed to a Blank & Jones single called "Miracle Cure". The song comes from the German electro group's forthcoming album, The Logic of Pleasure. "Miracle Cure" comes out worldwide on May 30 and hits the UK on June 2.
