Yo La Tengo, Sparklehorse Folks Tour With Johnston
If you had a band comprised of James McNew of Yo La Tengo, Mark Linkous of Sparklehorse, Scout Niblett, Norman Blake of Teenage Fanclub, and Jad Fair of Half Japanese, that would really be something, huh? And if that band were led by Daniel Johnston? All the better.
Indeed, that fairly unbelievable lineup will take to Europe in July for several "An Evening With Daniel Johnston and Friends" performances. Good friends to have, wouldn't you say?
That's not the only pairing Dan's got lined up for himself, as he'll be joined by Philly's Capitol Years June 22 when he plays Philadelphia's POPPED! festival in June. He's also leaving a few dates clear for gigging in the run up to POPPED!, and another European tour is in the works for October. And if you happen to find yourself in Milan between May 22 and July 23, stop in at the Antonio Colombo Arte Contemporanea to catch a glipse of some of Daniel's artwork while it's hanging from their walls.
Also, the Daniel Johnston lovefest continues with Johnston covers popping up on forthcoming releases from Spiritualized and the Twilight Sad.
