Flaming Lips, Roots, Andrew Bird Hit Iowa's 80/35 Fest

Named for the convergence of interstate highways that frames the west side of town, Des Moines, Iowa's inaugural 80/35 festival will bring together some of the nation's finest acts in the city's Western Gateway Park July 4-5.

Joining the open-air festivities in the Hawkeye State's capital city are some names you'll recognize: The Flaming Lips, the Roots, Black Francis, Drive-By Truckers, Andrew Bird, Headlights, Radio Moscow, Colourmusic, the Envy Corps, and, on that note, Cracker and Jakob Dylan (of the Wallflowers, and being Bob Dylan's son, fame).

Note that there's already been one notable 80/35 detour: according to a MySpace post, Greg "Girl Talk" Gillis, originally scheduled to appear at the event, has been forced to cancel his set due to a "big scheduling conflict." Citizens of Des Moines, fear not, as dancing days will soon be upon you: Gillis notes that he'll make it up to the city ASAP.
