Have you heard about this Guy Blackman character? Sure, he seems normal enough at first blush, but I hear he's actually an Adult Baby. The Melbourne, Australia-based cherub-mugged singer/songwriter, once of much-loved indie poppers Sleepy Township, recently issued his solo debut, Adult Baby, on Unstable Ape Records. And if the prospect of a full-grown child playing the sensitive rocker type wasn't reason enough to get you excited, Blackman's bevy of Baby-sitters should do the trick.

On "Dark & Quiet Place", Blackman duets with none other than Jens Lekman. There are also instrumental contributions from Mick Turner of Dirty Three, along with members of Architecture in Helsinki, Ground Components, and the Crayon Fields. There's even a "fragile girl group vocal" from the Art of Fighting's Peggy Frew. All that and the presence of an Adult Baby! It's like that movie Jack, only with Jens instead of Fran Drescher. Big improvement!

Blackman, who also runs the Chapter Music imprint, has a handful of Australian dates on the way.
