First New Wrens Song in Forever on Rock the Net Comp

As you know, Washington, DC's Future of Music Coalition has been flexing every muscle they've got in the fight for network neutrality for the last year and change. What's network neutrality again? Why, it's "the principle that preserves a free and open Internet. Net neutrality ensures that all users can access the content, or run the applications and devices of their choice," according to the FMC website. More info here.

To commemorate more than a year of the net neutrality fight, the FMC has crafted the previously reported compilation Rock the Net: Musicians for Net Neutrality, due July 29 from Thirsty Ear Recordings. The full roster of talent for the comp has just been revealed, and in addition to previously reported contributions from Wilco, Bright Eyes, the Wrens, They Might Be Giants, Portastatic, and DJ Spooky, the CD features contributions from Aimee Mann, David Bazan, B.C. Camplight, Palomar, Guster, Classic Brown, David Miller, Matthew Shipp, and the Free Form Funky Freqs (featuring Vernon Reid). And that Wrens cut ain't just some Meadowlands outtake they've had lying around for the last half-decade or so-- it's the New Jersey rockers' first new jam in five years!
