Radiohead's Pre-Rainbows Catalog Now on iTunes
Image via iTunes
Radiohead have long expressed reluctance at the prospect of offering their music for download via iTunes, apparently stemming from concern over folks downloading individual tracks in lieu of listening to the band's albums in their full, glorious entireties. Well, so much for that.
As noted in a Billboard.com report, Radiohead's pre-In Rainbows catalog suddenly appeared on iTunes today. The band's first six albums-- Pablo Honey, The Bends, OK Computer, Kid A, Amnesiac, and Hail to the Thief, plus live set I Might Be Wrong-- now join seventh disc In Rainbows, some scattered compilation and soundtrack offerings, those chart-scorching "Nude" stems, and that goofy-ass graphic up there on the iTunes digital shelves. And you can sure as hell snag tracks individually, should you so choose.
Also up on iTunes are the two editions of the just-issued Best Of-- released by Radiohead's former label EMI (via Capitol in the U.S. and Parlophone in the UK) but not sanctioned by the band-- leaving one to wonder how much Radiohead actually had to do with all this sudden warming to iTunes. EMI also put out the band's complete catalog in digital and physical formats, you may recall, sans participation from the Radiohead camp.
But if the 'heads are miffed, they've yet to say as much on Dead Air Space. They're too busy gearing up for their European tour and delighting over found pets at the moment.
