Love Is All Cover Prince, Straits, Seagulls on Tour EP
In preparation for their first trip to the States in a while next week, the dudes and dudette of Sweden's Love Is All have been manning the CD burner. The band recently whipped up a five-song covers EP, featuring songs chosen by each member of the band.
Naturally, this setup led to an awesomely silly array of tunes, from A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran (So Far Away)" to Dire Straits' similarly-titled "So Far Away" to that pretty amazing take on Prince's "Darling Nikki" we Forkcasted a little while back. There's also versions of Lung Leg's "Kung-Fu on the Internet" and Jed Dmochowski's foul-mouthed "Golly Gosh".
Thing is, you're gonna have to make your way to the merch table at one of Love Is All's forthcoming shows to nab a copy, as the band have no plans to release the thing otherwise, just yet. UPDATE: It's going to be available on eMusic.
And, hey, while you're there, you can nab one of the screen-printed tote bags frontwoman Josephine Olausson has reportedly been making up in her kitchen. Man, you could even put the CD in the tote bag. Love Is All, you think of everything.
Note that Love Is All have added a third New York date a few days after the ones you may've seen in our last report. "i understand that the place is big," Olausson writes of the Bowery Ballroom in a recent blog post, "and the tickets kind of pricey. that all makes me very nervous. for those of you who decide to come we promise special treats, we will sell our merch a little cheaper and maybe play songs we don't play that often. requests are welcome." Ooh, play "Golly Gosh"!
In related news, Love Is All member Åke Strömer is making use of his time in NYC to play a solo show under his James Ausfart guise at the Knitting Factory on June 6 (that's tomorrow!), opening for Gary Wilson.
