Goodness gracious, great balls of hail! Modest Mouse, in the midst of their big tour with R.E.M. and the National, went face to face with mother nature's fury during a headlining gig last night at Council Bluffs, Iowa's Westfair Amphitheater. Ferocious lightning and hail, however, didn't stop the band and its most diehard fans-- a few of whom could maybe stand to get a new Modest Mouse t-shirt-- from riding out the storm and floating on through the rest of the set after a little impromptu percussive jam session.
As guitarist Johnny Marr colorfully put it to the crowd, "We stuck around 'cause you stuck around. You fuckers are crazy."
