The Apples in Stereo Plot Tour, Play "Colbert Report"
As awesome a gig as it will be, playing the Pitchfork Music Festival won't be the limit of Denver dudes the Apples in Stereo's summer plans. Fair enough. So, with the aim of bringing the tunes from rarities/B-sides collection Electronic Projects for Musicians to the masses, they've scheduled a summer tour of the U.S.
At the end of the tour, August 4 to be exact, the band will play "The Colbert Report". Attentive viewers/readers will remember that frontman Robert Schneider has actually played the show once before. Someone in Colbert's crew must like them Apples. Maybe it has something to do with the loving ode to Stephen Colbert that Schneider played last time, which also appears on the aforementioned comp?
In other screen-related Apples news, Schneider makes a cameo in The Love Guru, starring Mike Myers, which is in theaters now. He can be seen playing a version of bluegrass standard "Foggy Mountain Breakdown" during a barroom brawl scene. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Alba are also in the movie-- which, let's face it, looks awful.
