P4K Fest: Two-Day Passes Sold Out!

We told you they were nearly gone. And we weren't lying. Nope, sure as Tim Harrington's got a penchant for tight underpants, two-day Saturday/Sunday passes for the 2008 Pitchfork Music Festival-- hitting Chicago's Union Park from July 18-20-- are now completely sold out.

Three-day passes are gone too, of course, which leaves just individual day passes for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday's festivities. Get those-- while still you can-- via Ticketweb for the perfectly reasonable price of $30 apiece. That's right, dozens of great bands and three once-in-a-lifetime album run-through experiences for, like, half the price of the cheapest Steely Dan ticket in town. People, you know what to do.

And while we've got you here, now would be a great time to take stock of some select festival-sanctioned gigs taking place between July 18-21 and featuring hot fest bands. While they're in the area, Boris, High Places, HEALTH, Boban Markovic, and a Jay Reatard/King Khan & His Shrines 1-2 punch will take to stages around Chicago for some evening rocking. So if some set-time overlap or a line at the veggie wrap booth at Union Park keeps you from witnessing Jay Reatard's kinetic fury, Boris' double-necked guitar assault, or High Places' warped playground jingles, Chicago's finest venues are giving you a second chance.

Here's a quick rundown:

07-18 HEALTH at The Hideout
07-19 High Places at Schubas
07-19 Jay Reatard, King Khan & His Shrines at Bottom Lounge
07-20 Boris at Empty Bottle
07-21 Boban Markovic at Martyrs'

Some of these folks are offering discounts to festivalgoers, so check the venue websites for details.

Those venues and more are also collaborating with the Pitchfork Music Festival and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs to bring you the previously reported free lunchtime series "Audible Architecture: Chicago Nightclubs at Noon", which kicks off this coming Monday, June 16.

That series takes place at Millennium Park's Jay Pritzker Pavilion, as does the P4KFest/Music Without Borders-presented Pitchfork Music Festival Preview Night on Thursday, June 17. The Future of Music Coalition-co-presented discussion of Public Enemy's It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back also takes place on June 17.
