The New Pornographers Cancel Dates

New Pornographers fans just can't catch a break. Earlier this year, Neko Case had to leave the band's tour with Okkervil River after fracturing her ankle. And now, due to the dreaded excuse known as "personal reasons," the NPs have been forced to cancel their trip to Europe. (According to the band's MySpace, their June 24 Winnipeg date is cancelled too. THAT DATE IS STILL ON.)
In an email newsletter message, the band said this: "We regretfully must inform you that we have had to cancel our trip to Europe this coming July due to personal reasons. Sorry that sounds generic, but it's sincere. We do not like having to cancel shows and were very excited about returning to Europe, but the unforeseen circumstances that have arisen just have made it impossible to do so in July.
"Please rest assured, though, that everyone in the band is safe, healthy (physically and most of the time mentally), and chemically independent, and we hope that you are as well."
Fortunately for non-European New Pornos fans, most of the band's other dates are still intact.
