Portishead Ready "The Rip" Single

Plucked from the ample selection of note-perfect brood pieces from their long-delayed, Best New Music'd Third LP, Portishead jam-- and recent Radiohead cover fodder-- "The Rip" will be treated to its very own single June 23 in the UK from Island.

The single arrives as an etched 12" with the album track on its groovier side and as a digital bundle featuring the tune, Nick Uff's animated film "The Rip", and a take on Third opener "Silence" from their recent "Portishead in Portishead" session. Oh, and a really boss cover. Lookee:

Portishead recently wrapped a spring tour-- their first in god knows how long-- and a recent blog post from Geoff Barrow suggests "that is it for now live wize." The same post suggests Barrow's impatience in wanting to "write some new tunes." Catch ya'll in 2020?
