Bill Callahan, Xiu Xiu's Stewart Join Prez Box Set Fun
Full tracklist, release date revealed
Just as the U.S. presidential race got specific by narrowing to a two-candidate field recently, Of Great and Mortal Men: 43 Songs for 43 Presidencies-- the "Schoolhouse Rock!"-style tribute to the United States' highest office from songwriters Christian Kiefer, Matthew Gerken, and Jefferson Pitcher-- now has a specific release date and tracklist.
Delivering on its promises, the three-disc box set features a single tune dedicated to each presidency, with a tune for the forthcoming 44th President coming via digital download in November.
Another part of Mortal Men's platform was the inclusion of quite a few noteworthy collaborators. Kiefer, Gerken, and Pitcher have followed through on that one too, with a tracklist that includes guests Bill Callahan, Jamie Stewart (Xiu Xiu), Radar Bros., and Tom Brosseau, in addition to the previously mentioned likes of Califone, Alan Sparhawk (Low), Mark Kozelek, James Jackson Toth (Wooden Wand), Vince DiFiore (Cake), Tom Carter (Charalambides), Marla Hansen, Rosie Thomas, and Denison Witmer.
Standard Recording Co. will release Of Great and Mortal Men: 43 Songs for 43 Presidencies on September 9.
