Amanda Palmer-- vocalist, keyboardist, and songwriter for theatrical duo the Dresden Dolls-- will ditch her Dolls partner Brian Viglione for most of the summer for a solo tour, followed by the release of her previously reported debut solo album Who Killed Amanda Palmer.

The record features contributions from Annie Clark (aka St. Vincent) (on a cover of "What's the Use of Wonderin'" from the musical Carousel), the Dead Kennedys' East Bay Ray, cellist Zoe Keating, and string arranger/composer Paul Buckmaster. It was produced by Ben Folds. Graphic novelist Neil Gaiman wrote the liner notes, and he and Palmer are also collaborating on a book of photography to coincide with the record's release.

Roadrunner Records will release Who Killed Amanda Palmer on September 16. Palmer is setting up a tour in support of the record to take place this fall, but she's got plenty of summer shows to keep her busy before then. Plus, what do you know, there are even some Dresden Dolls festival appearances.
