Tortoise Line Up Shows
As it stands, it's a bit too scattered to really call a tour, but it's news nevertheless: Chicago post-rock dynamos Tortoise have lined up exactly eleven shows throughout the rest of the summer.
Things get started July 12 with a hometown gig at the Empty Bottle, touch down September 19 at ATP New York with a full run through their classic 1996 album Millions Now Living Will Never Die, and head to and from Europe several times in the interim.
There's another hometown gig in the midst of all that worth another mention: On August 4, they'll take the stage at the Jay Pritzker Pavilion in Chicago's Millennium Park at 12:15 p.m. as part of the "Audible Architecture: Chicago Nightclubs at Noon" series put on by the Pitchfork Music Festival, local venue of note the Hideout, and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs.
In other Tortoise news, Doug McCombs appears on the forthcoming Calexico set, Carried to Dust. And any number of Tortoise members can probably be found DJing or performing in some kind of side project on any given night at any given club in Chicago.
