Smashing Pumpkins Plan Gish Box Set, Gish Tour

Billy Corgan plays Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band with Cheap Trick
Smashing Pumpkins Plan Gish Box Set, Gish Tour Smashing Pumpkins' debut album Gish turns 17 this year, and it looks like the band-- or what remains of it, anyway-- is planning a big ol' birthday celebration to usher Gish toward the cusp of adulthood.

As has become typical of Pumpkins news of late, details are scarce, but according to a recent post on the band's website, we can expect both a "pre-Gish/Gish box set" and a "Gish tour" "sometime in 2008."

Whether the Gish tour and the previously reported Pumpkins 20th anniversary shows are one and the same isn't entirely clear, though I wouldn't put it past Mr. Billy Corgan, never one for subtlety, to pile on the milestones. Much less likely: the Gish-era Pumpkins lineup turning up for the Gish tour.

The Pumpkins also have a DVD in the works, which their site suggests will arrive before the year is out, and a new, non-album single on the way, due in September.

Finally, some Windy City love: on June 28 at L.A.'s Hollywood Bowl, Cheap Trick and an orchestra will roll through the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band LP with a number of special guests, including Billy Corgan.
